P.S. I've been getting a surprisingly large amount of abusive comments and emails recently. I'm pretty sure it's just one or two people using several different accounts so I'm not too worried, but seriously, if you're reading this, don't you have anything better to do?
I've been writing captions for over 5 years, so (surprisingly) recieving an email from you isn't going to stop me... Telling me that I'm a slut, that I'm perverted, or that a respectable woman wouldn't write these kinda things really doesn't bother me at all. No one is forcing you to be here, so why shit on a strangers work?
That's my rant over. To all you over (far more lovely) people, if you see an abusive comment, feel free to reply to it telling them to go eat a dick or something. It'll give them something to think about before I delete their comment! Xxx

While it's obvious that trolling like that is obnoxious and hurtful, insulting the trolls is a terrible solution to the problem.
ReplyDeleteDear Carly, much as I'm miffed that someone would insult you or your lovely work, I'd have to agree with the above observation; trading insults with that kind of creep might just feed their sense of self-importance (like: hey, my nasty comment got somebody riled up!). After all, they are anonymous and have nothing to defend, hence just loving the free attention. Maybe just blithely ignore and delete? Let 'em waste time more time writing the nasty comment than you spend just deleting it like the trash that it is! grr! ^^

I've been following your posts for some time now and have enjoyed almost all of them. You have a wonderful way with words and thoughts. It's a shame that you have to deal with creeps like that. As Karen said, "Just let em waste their time and keep deleting them". It's not worth you time of integrity to respond to them.
